At Wayne Village Pottery, that lovely stuff known as Maine “blue” clay is dug out of our back field. The early redware potters also used this kind of clay, and we enjoy following their tradition of creating handmade pottery which is useful, affordable and decorative.
Wayne Village Pottery Headquarters here in Wayne, Maine sits on 4 acres 'downtown'. The back half off our property is still to this day a large pine grove, planted in perfect rows during WWII as a tree farm by the previous owners of the homestead. The pines back there, especially the front row, are huge now and so, so strong. We've watched them sway in crazy winds, had hurricanes blow through- there has only been one ever uprooted in the 50 years we've been here.
Strong trees, with deep roots, swaying side to side, but never blown over, even by the the most blustery of winds, staying green all year 'round, even in the harshest of winters. That's Maine, right?
